Kim Min Sun Wins Valuable Bronze Medal at International Speed Skating Event
At the opening of the 2024-25 International Skating Union (ISU) Four Continents Speed Skating Championships in Hachinohe YS Arena, Aomori Prefecture, Japan on November 16, 2024, Kim Min Sun from Uijeongbu City Hall clinched a valuable bronze medal in the women's 500m race. Kim crossed the finish line in 38.30 seconds, securing the third spot among 19 competitors. Erin Jackson from the U.S. (38.16 seconds) and Kinumi Inagawa from Japan (38.26 seconds) claimed the first and second positions, respectively.
Starting from the outer lane in Group 6 alongside Inagawa, Kim Min Sun completed the first 100m in 10.60 seconds, initially holding onto the fifth position. She then accelerated her speed and completed the remaining 400m in 27.70 seconds, ultimately earning the bronze medal.
Kim Min Sun, born in 1999 and now 25 years old, dominated the rankings in the previous 2022-23 World Cup season by sweeping gold medals in the 1st to 5th events. Following her second-place ranking behind Jackson last season, Kim Min Sun will be aiming for additional medals in the upcoming 1,000m event on the 17th. She is also scheduled to compete in the ISU Speed Skating World Cup 1st event in Nagano, Japan from the 22nd onwards.
